'BLACK BLOOD III' BLACK SHEEP VINEYARD OLD VINE SHIRAZ  2012
96 POINTS
"Has the most vivid colour of the Black Blood series; from the cooler Blewitt Springs district, the vines planted in ‘35; this has a brightness and an elegance that sets it apart from I and II; silky tannins underpin the joyous red fruits, spice and subtle chocolate. Beautiful wine. Drink by: 2037" James Halliday

'BLACK BLOOD II' CHURCH VINEYARD SHIRAZ  2012
95 POINTS
"The colour is the next best after Black Blood III, deep crimson-purple; from the Church Vineyard purchased by the family in ‘47; there is more life, more light and shade, more red fruits to accompany the platform of savoury black fruits; the overall mouthfeel is very good, the length excellent. Drink by: 2032" James Halliday

'BLACK BLOOD I' CELLAR VINEYARD SHIRAZ  2012
94 POINTS
"Very good colour, slightly more developed than II or III; from 16 rows within a block within a vineyard adjacent to the cellar door; dark, rich and brooding, it has a mosaic of blackberry, earth, bramble, licorice and the most bitter dark chocolate; the tannins, of course, are there, and the wine (just) carries the alcohol, thinning out fractionally, rather than warming up, on the finish. Drink by: 2027" James Halliday

'ODDBALL' SAPERAVI 2012
95 POINTS
"Inky purple, almost into black; immensely powerful; roasted berries and meat, licorice, bitter chocolate and powerful tannins that are not dry, and are in balance with all that has gone before."

'JEKYLL & HYDE' SHIRAZ VIOGNIER 2012
94 POINTS
"A field blend of Shiraz (95%) and Viognier (5%) picked and fermented together, unusual in McLaren Vale. The colour is deep, vivid crimson-purple, blackberry fruit the first cab off the rank, but caught by the Viognier on the finish with a lifted burst of red fruits. An unqualified success."

'THE VILLAIN' CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2012
93 POINTS
"Typical '12 colour; the dark chocolate signature of the region comes first up, but by the time the cassis fruit and savoury tannins have had the opportunity to express themselves, it is the varietal expression that easily wins the day. Drink by: 2027"

'SHEARER'S CUT' SHIRAZ CABERNET 2012
92 POINTS
"No bio fruit day here, just a Saturday, allowing the 58 members of the Hugh Hamilton Wines Club to pick the grapes; since only 70 dozen bottles were made, it may be hard to find. A 53/47% blend, it has plenty of character, no black sheep here, with blackcurrant, blackberry and dark chocolate backed by ripe, round tannin. Drink by: 2020"

'THE RASCAL' SHIRAZ 2012
90 POINTS
"Good colour; in the mainstream of McLaren Vale shiraz; medium to full-bodied, with abundant black fruits (primarily blackberry); the injection of dark chocolate and licorice, and plump, ripe, tannins. Drink by: 2020"
